Easter Treats and Cards

Two Easter cards I made last week along with some chocolate covered pretzel rods for my Sunday School class.

Happy Easter!

May the glory
and the promise
of this joyous time of year
Bring peace
and happiness to you
and those you hold most dear,

And may Christ,
Our Risen Saviour,
always be there by your side
To bless you
most abundantly
and be your loving guide.

Sick Dog

Bronchitis--an inflammation of one or more of the small airways in the lungs, or bronchi--is not usually life threatening, but it is unpleasant for a dog suffering its effects. Characterized by an uncontrollable cough, bronchitis can be either acute (short-lived, sometimes caused by an infection) or chronic (continuous, possibly even life-long).
B.J. has been couching and wheezing  the last week and a half.  We thought our little doggy may have allergies. Henry took him to the vet yesterday and was informed that BJ has bronchitis.  Mind you it only took the Doc 5 minutes or less to examine BJ. I surely didn't expect this visit to cost $75, yikes that's 3 times more than my doctor's visit copay.

I never thought a dog would have bronchitis. It's  more prevalent in smaller breeds and  usually caused by an allergy or by long-term exposure to cigarette smoke or some other type of environmental irritant. The vet prescribed antibiotics and says Mr. B should be fine and to come back if problem continues after he's taken all the medication.  The treatment for bronchitis in dogs is not much different from that for humans.

CAPTURED!

Henry has been trying to capture two little squirrels for weeks. About six weeks ago he told me the painter told him he noticed  roof rats on top of the house.  I'm terrified of rodents and knowing that one was on own our  property made me squeal. I asked him if he was sure and he said  he had hear some noise on top of the house. Whew! glad they turned out to be homeless squirrels instead of rats (yikes)Henry was unsuccessful in capturing  the little creatures until Perry our neighbor across the street came to his aid. Perry bought over a trap which they baited with cat food to lure the critters in the trap.  Two weeks go by, no squirrel, just some hungry bird took the bait.  Last week the critters fell off the top of the house and landed on the top of Henry's truck. He says he heard a loud bang outside and went outside to only find fur balls on the hood of  his truck.   Squirrels were no where to be seen   :(

This moring I heard  B.J. at the front door barking up a storm to get outside.  I ignored him, thinking he only saw the neighbor's cat or another dog outside.  He kept barking and whining  to get outside.  I finally went to investigate what it was that had  B.J so upset, and  BAM there he was, finally the trap had worked. Well today was our lucky day, one down and one more to go. Hopefully the other one will have sense and leave the permise before he's too captured and sent back to the wild. :)

I use to think squirrels were kinda cute, especially when you see them running around in the park, no longer the case since they took up resident at our place. Oh so sad ,we had to call in reinforcement inorder to get the once cute little critters to leave.
Just as Henry was about to take the critter back to his home, Perry came over and offered to  release the critter back into the wild.

I just hope we capture the other one soon and very soon!

Spring Break 2011

Denver Nuggets vs. Sacarmento Kings

The last three years for Spring Break we've traveled to a NBA city.  This year's trip was to Denver  Colorado. Day One of our trip we went to the Nugget's basketball game.  The Nuggets defeated the Kings (score 104-90).The people of Denver love themselves some Nuggets. I think we were the only ones in the arena not wearing some sort of Nugget apparel. We had a lot of fun cheering for both teams :)
